Grow Your Faith. Engage Your Mind. Connect with Community.

The LCC Book Club meets once every month for about an hour and a half. The meetings are always held at a member’s house, and we use our time to eat, drink, talk, laugh, and share with others how aspects of this book apply to our lives.  We believe that good literature—whether fiction, theology, history, or memoir—offers a beautiful lens through which to explore the world, our faith, and the complexities of the human condition.

We aren’t just reading books; we are seeking truth, wrestling with ideas, and strengthening our bonds as brothers and sisters in Christ. All are welcome, whether you’re a lifelong Lutheran, a curious seeker, or just looking for a thoughtful book discussion group!

In the Lutheran tradition, we highly value both the Word of God and the pursuit of knowledge and reason. Our book club is a reflection of this heritage. We choose books that:

  • Explore Ethical and Moral Themes: Discussing how Christian ethics intersect with the world.

  • Deepen Theological Understanding: Sometimes directly, by reading classic or contemporary Christian texts; sometimes indirectly, by examining faith through a secular narrative.

  • Celebrate Human Experience: Recognizing that God’s creation is beautiful and complex, and that good stories reflect God’s truth, beauty, and grace.

  • Foster Humble Dialogue: Following Martin Luther’s call for civil and honest debate, grounded in Christian love.

  • JUST PLAIN FUN: It’s not always about religion, if we find a book that everyone wants to read – we do just that and enjoy each other’s company while discussing it.

We acknowledge Jesus Christ as the head of our church and fully submit ourselves to His will. In every aspect of our ministry our goal is always to honor and glorify the Lord Jesus Christ.

We value Bible-centered Preaching and Teaching!

We believe the Bible is God’s inspired authoritative and trustworthy rule of faith and practice for Christians. Therefore, we submit ourselves to its teaching, commit ourselves to do what it says, and yield our lives to become what Christ desires for us to be.

We value Prayer!

We believe in the power of prayer. Therefore, the ministries and activities our church will be characterized by a reliance on personal and corporate prayer in all areas of our lives and ministry.

We value Evangelism and World Missions!

We believe in the Great Commission commanded to us by Jesus Christ and we are committed to reaching unsaved and unchurched people locally, nationally and worldwide. We will use every available Christ-honoring means to pursue, win and disciple the people in our sphere of influence.

We value the Family!

We believe God ordained the family to glorify him. We are committed to cultivate an atmosphere which promotes spiritual growth within the family by reaching families with the gospel, discipling them in Christ-like character and teaching each family member how to fulfill their God-given role.
