Our Clothes to Kids campaign was a great success thanks to the generosity of so many LCC congregants! In total, about 20 bags of clothes and shoes were collected, as was also some direct cash gifts. The campaign began as a Vacation Bible School mission outreach, but it was decided to continue the campaign, open it to the congregation as a whole and extend it into July.
Because of the love and support of our congregation, the children Clothes to Kids serves will be able to attend school with the confidence and self-esteem they need to achieve academic success.
The program began in 2003 with the first store opening in Dunedin. They quickly outgrew their space there, though, and so they moved to their current Clearwater location. A second CtK store opened in St. Petersburg in 2009, and in 2018 a store in Tampa was added to help the kids in Hillsborough County. To date, Clothes to Kids has distributed more than 208,000 wardrobes to children in our communities.
When shoppers come to a CtK store, they get to have the full shopping experience of 22 clothing items, all free of charge. Last year, 16,411 wardrobes were distributed to shoppers.
Thanks to everyone who donated to help put a smile on the face of children in our communities who need a helping hand.
