If you’re anything like your pastors, you’re getting itchy to get our church back to normal. Pastor Bruce and Pastor Lisa are especially eager to get their offices off of their kitchen table! With that in mind, we’d like to give you a progress report so you will know that there is indeed light at the end of this tunnel, and that our church reconstruction is moving along at a good pace.
Contractor and fellow church member Sean Seifried and his staff are working diligently to restore and even improve on our facilities. Carpet squares have been laid in Fellowship Hall, and most of the walls there have been painted. The only unpainted wall in FH is the one where the new door which will connect FH with the Youth Room is, and they are awaiting delivery of doors to finish that. Having a direct connection from the Youth Room to the Fellowship Hall will allow more integrated use of those spaces. It also provides an accessible route to the Fellowship Hall from the rear parking lot.
As for the Youth Room, Nursery and office reconstruction, Sean says, “Flooring will be installed in the upcoming week. And then door and cabinet installation. The goal is to have everything wrapped up by the beginning of February.” After the flooring is in, we can unload the large storage pod that is in the back lot. The staff will be excited to get access to all of their materials and it will offer a chance to purge many old supplies and accumulated stuff!
Another improvement to our facility will be the installation of a sink in the nursery, making the changing of the little ones much more convenient. The odd triangle with the stairs now becomes a new small closet off of the break room.
The office area is being reimagined, with Paula returning to her original office (with a real door on it!) and the area she used to be in opened up into additional meeting space. The front desk space is also being opened up more to allow for more flexibility and a more inviting atmosphere.
We are delighted that the end is in sight, and we ask for the congregation’s continued patience as we restore and improve the beautiful facility that God has given us.
