Hard to believe, but it’s already time to start thinking about the kids going back to school! And so to help parents and children get ready for that, LCC is having its annual Back to School Fair on Sunday, August 18 from 10:00 to 11:00 AM in the narthex (lobby).
Conveniently scheduled between traditional and family worships, the Fair will feature stations that will help children craft items that will be fun and useful for them for the year ahead. Stations will include book mark making, pencil topper making, pencil pouch decorating, keychain decorating with face painters available for extra fun. There will also be a station where stress balls will be given away (you parents might like that yourselves!).
The morning of the Fair will kick off with the 9:00 AM service in which we will install the Day School staff and teachers, as well as those engaged in education for children and adults here at the church. Educators and staff will receive a blessing that will start their year on the right footing.
Before each service we will invite children to bring their backpacks to be displayed by the Communion Table in the sanctuary and in Fellowship Hall. During the services each child will receive a tag for their backpacks that will remind them that God’s got their back. The backpacks and tags will be blessed during both worship services and the family worship will start a little later than 10:30 to allow our second service families to still participate in the fun. .
There is a lot of excitement building as we look forward to a new school year, and we value our partnership with the LCC Day School in educating and spiritually forming our children. The Back to School Fair, Teacher Installation and Backpack Blessing will set the tone for the school year by offering our praise and thanksgiving to God as we seek God’s blessings.
